Nancy’s Notes for November/December
There are lots of things going on to put on your calendars between now and the New Year.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Our annual Christmas Party will be Thursday, December 11. We’ll plan to eat around 5:30 so bring your food around 5 or so. The music group that entertained us so well last year is looking forward to doing so again this year. They’re already practicing and have also added people to the group. Jim Dalglish is back from North Dakota and planning something for us, too.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
On December 13 we will be hosting another EFT workshop—this time on Dealing with the Stress of the Holidays and Dealing with Anxiety. It will start at 9 am and finish by Noon. The cost is $35 per person. Monica Johnson, the presenter, has presented twice before on different topics and was well received by everyone. For those interested in learning more about EFT before signing up, check out www.emofree.com. We might be able to talk her in to helping us use EFT to keep from overeating during the holidays if there’s enough time left after dealing with Stress and Anxiety. Actually some of our anxiety causes overeating and our overeating sometimes causes us a lot of anxiety.

Carol Smith is offering new Yoga classes at the request of some ladies who play golf. The initial classes will have some specific poses that will help strengthen the movements common to golfers in addition to some general poses that are excellent for strength building and flexibility. In the new year we are looking forward to possibly having some Mommy & Me yoga where new Moms can bring their babies and use them in the movements. Stay tuned for more info on that.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
In January we’re welcoming Greg Willson to our facility. He will be offering Personal Training to those interested in taking their strength and cardio training to the next level. Everyone who has had the services of a personal trainer has improved their fitness levels and been very satisfied with the workouts. Greg is an RN who is a certified Personal Trainer. He will bring that medical knowledge to his knowledge of fitness to provide safe, effective workouts for those who do have medical problems. We look forward to having him both as a Trainer and maybe as my back-up in some cases.

PROJECT UPDATE:
Most of you probably already know what’s happening with the larger project to build a Medical Fitness and Aquatic Center. Right now the project is at the Security Lawyer’s office being reviewed and a Private Offering Memorandum is being written. I need to raise $1.5 M in order for Wells Fargo and the SBA to loan me the rest of the money needed to build the project. They’ve committed to the project so I’m moving on to try to get it done, even in this uncertain economic time. Fitness centers may be helped by the economic times as people are concerned with keeping healthy or getting healthy in a less expensive way than going to the doctor a lot and taking lots of medications.
My request for all of you is to think of anyone you know who might be interested in investing in a project that will help lots of people and be a good investment in our community. As soon as the Private Offering is ready, I’ll be letting you know and will be sending out letters to many others to try to identify possible partners in this project.

BIG SALE
All retail items except Unicity items will be on sale—10% off—from Thanksgiving through the end of the year. Logo shirts will be $10 for the duration. Your purchases will help use up our inventory so we can get new things in the new year and we won’t have so much to count in January.
My wish is you’ll have a Blessed Thanksgiving and Christmas and we’ll all work together to have a Healthy 2009. I’m especially thankful for your support this past year.

For
the last several years, many people have been involved in the process
of bringing Sierra Vista its first Medical Fitness and Aquatic Center.
In 2004 several friends
helped Jim and I purchase a prime piece of land--4 acres--on Wilcox
between 7th Street and Lenzner--across the street from Calvary Chapel
behind Wendy's.
My architect Diane Krebs-Carhuff
and I are putting the finishing touches on a building we think will
be beautiful, energy efficient, compact and well organized and of
a size to be financially feasible. Mr. Bill Wintrode of Territorial
Capital in Tucson is helping us find funding to build it. We will
soon be looking for local partners to help with the rest of the
financing.
Many programs are planned
to help the people of Sierra Vista and the surrounding area become
and remain healthy. Some of those programs will be aquatic-based
and some will be land-based, offering many opportunities to enjoy
getting and staying physically fit and healthy.
Some of our
programs will include:
Cardiac Rehab
Osteoporosis screening and treatment
Physical Therapy utilizing both aquatics and land
Yoga
Pilates
Aerobics on land and in the Water
Programs for special populations such as Pregnancy, Baby Movement,
children's yoga, etc.
Personal Training
Weight Loss/Maintenance
Life Style Change
Stress reduction and Management
Support
areas will include:
Child Care
Resource Library
Healthy Food Restaurant and Juice Bar
There's
much to be done yet. Watch this site for further developments and
updates on the project.
